Cincinnati Christmas

Alex and Evan got way too much from Santa! In addition to the Big Jumpy Seat, as Alex calls it, they also got a train table and a play kitchen from Granny BB. The both loved the kitchen. I got Alex a lot of play food to go with it and a shopping cart. Him and Evan both loved to dump it out - they did it at least 100 times in one day - we all had a great time picking it up...

Big Jumpy Seat

Alex and Evan got a "Big Jumpy Seat" for Christmas - it is a huge blown up castle full of balls and they love jumpy in it. Alex asked for it for Christmas, but Evan loved it just as much! We were cracking up at the static in his hair! These pictures were taken on "Christmas Morning" in Cincinnati (the 26th).

Playing Together

Alex and Evan have started playing more together. They climbed into a laundry basket and started goofing off before bathtime - they were having a blast!

Alex actually opened presents this year vs. us doing it for him and then him just playijng with the paper like last year.

Santa Visits Columbus

Santa came to visit Columbus while we were there. Alex loved him and was able to answer the door when he arrived. He was really friendly with Santa, told him his name, what he wanted for Christmas and even sat on his lap while he opened presents that Santa brought for him. Evan wasn't so sure of Santa and screamed the entire time. I love the look on his face!

Christmas Eve in Columbus

On Christmas Eve, we attend mass with Tim's family and then we come back to the house and get ready for our Christmas Eve meal - fish and periogies! After dinner we do oplatek, which is a Polish tradition. For those of you that don't know, I googled the definition for you: The sacred white wafers, much like those used for Holy Communion, are shared with each person present. During the exchange, good wishes are expressed. This is the most emotional time of the holiday for the Polish family. It is always good to share a special moment with everyone there!

Eleven Months Old

Evan is eleven months old and has really been on the move lately. He tries really hard to keep up with Alex and he does a pretty good job. He is really close to walking, he loves to walk around the ottoman and couch. We strategically place gold fish crackers at different points throughout his path, so he has something to do while cruising. He is happy as long as he is eating! Oh and note the runny nose in the picture - that is a normal everyday thing around our house these days...

Santa with the Boys

We went to the annual Santa Breakfast at Tim's work today! We had a great time! This is the third time we have taken Alex and he finally didn't cry. Of course Evan just sat there and smiled the whole time. Santa and Mrs. Claus have a little bunny rabbit that you can pet and then you get a candy cane if you are good. Afterwards we made crafts in the craft room - a reindeer ornament and two necklaces. Evan just played with the water bottle.

Ten Months Old

Fall 2009 Updates

ALEX

Alex is just talking constantly. He tells us everything he wants and communicates well. We really have to watch what we say now because he also repeats everything he hears. Everytime he sees a big bulldozer or construction truck, he says, "Oh my GOD", nice... The other day, he walked in and said, "Bubba, it is so nice to meet you!" - no idea where he has picked that up, but it is cute! He has memorized most of the Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear book, so he likes to read that to us every night. He is getting good at recognizing letters in books and certain words too. He has almost all of his teeth - we are just waiting on one more two-year molar. He went to the dentist with me this past week and I think he will be ready to go after the first of the year.

EVAN

Evan is still the happiest baby in the world. He gets around really fast now - still not a full crawl, but a modified army crawl. He loves to stand up and is even starting to let go and move between furniture. This week he is getting two more teeth - his top front left tooth and one of this bottom left teeth - that will make four total. He can say Dada, Mama, ByeBye and He. He can also clap, wave ByeBye and shake his head no, although he doesn't know what no means and probably never will :) Mary said he can also sign for more, but we can't get him to do it! He loves his big brother and lights up when Alex come into the room - they are starting to play together which is fun!

We are looking forward to the holidays with them!

Alex loves to take his pants off and run around - today, he took his pants off, put my red shoes on and was dancing around. Oh lord...

Alex, the Dinosaur!

Halloween is a big deal on our street - we get about probaby 400 - 500 kids! For the last two years we have done a fire pit and made an event of it. This year Krista, Michael, Amy, Kris and Eloise hung out and helped us hand out some candy. The kids had a great time seeing all of the costumes.
