Three Months Old

Okay - so I am only about a week late on this one, not a month late! No doctor appointment or shots this month - who hoo! Drew is still all smiles and doesn't know a stranger! Everyone stops us and wants to talk to him everywhere we go! He always smiles back and has the sweetest little face, even when he cries. Alex tells me all the time, "Mommy, I love his face when he cries" - so cute! He still hates the minivan - the only thing that we can think is that he gets car sick - who knows? He screams his head off about 85% of the time we are driving around and we drive around A LOT. To keep from going insane the other day - I turned up my music super loud and he actually stopped! So if you hear me coming down the street, pumping Black Eyed Peas - I am not trying to be cool in the minivan, but just trying to calm down my little screamer! He has found his hands lately and chews on the constantly! He has been drooling a lot too. Not sure if that is just what three months old do or if he is teething. He still loves being held and pretty much will scream if you put him down and he isn't ready for it. He is going to bed a little earlier at night and sleeping longer. I am trying to get him down by 8:30 now vs. 10 or 11pm and he usually sleeps til 3 or 4am. If he wakes up before that - he just gets the binky. He is growing like a weed and getting chubby cheeks and legs! I really can't believe it has already been three months! I would be going back to work if I hadn't decided to take my extended leave - so glad I decided to take extra time off...

Drew is making moves

Drew is growing up fast! He now has a new place to "sit" - the activity center. There are not many places I can actually put him down, without him screaming his head off. He lasts in here about 15 minutes. He still needs a pillow behind him, but seems to really enjoy the toys and the noises they make. He even accidentially spins them himselves occasionally. Sometimes he gets scared to death when the boys run over and spin the toys too fast/loud - it never ends good.

We had a busy weekend with a lot going on, but we did want to make sure we attended this fun event at church! We have been trying to go to church more and figured that we would do a better job if we were involved. Alex has been going to Sunday School and we also joined POPS (Parents of Preschoolers). This was the first big event that they hosted since we joined plus it sounded like a great time - so we were there...

They had crafts and pizza in the cafeteria and then the kids all lined up and went outside to trick-or-treat out of the trunks of the parents cars! They had a great time and so did the parents!

We took the kids to the zoo for a little early trick-or-treating! They were just practicing for the big day...

You all will be sick of these costumes before it is all over with - BUT they are too cute! It was funny to hear what everyone thought Evan was - we heard astronaut, pilot, ghostbuster - as if! Only the true Star Wars fans really knew who he was. Tim was so proud...

Evan wouldn't wear his helment, so Drew wore it around while attached to me with the Baby Bjorn! He actually got the most attention - sad we didn't get a picture of that :(

Wizard of Oz

Thanks to Uncle Michael's generosity, we were all (the five of us, Michael and Kristi, plus Mimi and Papaw) able to go see a private performance of The Wizard of Oz, performed by the Children's Theatre. The boys and Drew were all so well-behaved during the entire performance! Afterwards there was a huge dinner party geared towards the kids. They were able to meet the character's, dance to the DJ, eat a corn dog buffett, get sword balloons from the clowns, and drink as much juice as they wanted. Evan was so proud that he got to give the Tin Man a high-five! It was a wonderful event and we look forward to going again in the future! Thanks Uncle Michael!

Shaw Farm: Pumpkin Patch #3

Today I was so excited to be a part of the boys first school fieldtrip! We went to Shaw Farm in Milford for yet another hayride and romp through a pumpkin patch. Although it was quite a hike (30 - 40 minutes from our house), we still had a great time. Jonathan and Holly rode with us, while Mary watched Baby Drew and Baby Diana for the first time!

This farm was more "touristy" than the previous two we have visited this year, but the kids loved it. I have never seen so many pumpkins - 25 acres of them! The hayride was definitely my favorite. It was the longest of the three we have been on and they had all kinds of displays of spooky things in the woods for the kids to talk about. It was pulled by a tractor vs. horses but the kids loved being that close to a tractor too... You can see from all of the pictures that they had a blast.

Turner Farm: Pumpkin Patch #2

It was so hot - probably over 80, but of course Alex has on his jeans!!!

So as our pumpkin patch tour continues, we hit up Turner Farm. We visited this farm last year and really enjoyed the trip. We had a pretty big group and needed two wagons. This year we visited the sweet potato patch and picked vines to feed to the sheep and the pigs. The sheep weren't as hungry this year, so the kids had trouble getting them to take the vines. There were a few sheep that approached the kids. Alex actually was one of the ones that was able to feed them - he was pretty determined. Evan on the other-hand ran wildly around the field, using a sweet potato vine as a weapon/lasso (secretly I think he was pretending to be Indiana Jones with he big whip), trying to get the sheet to come to him. This was after the farmers said that we had no chance of feeding the sheep if we didn't stay low, still and really quiet. This would be hard enough for a group with so many young kids, but especially with Evan :)

Sunrock Farm: Pumpkin Patch #1

This year, we actually have FOUR trips planned to various pumpkin farms throughout the city with different groups of friends. I am super-excited because I love the fall, pumpkins, hayrides, etc... To kick off the pumpkin farm tour, we started tonight at Sunrock Farm. Our neighbor, Christa organized this visit to the farm, which was located in Northern Kentucky. We were joined by the Pusateri's and Bigelow's (Christa's sister and her family) - all together, we had 18 adults and children. We started the visit by learning how to milk a goat! Miss Ruby didn't seem to mind multiple children tugging at her udders. As the farm lady said, "she is used to little baby goat teeth" so our crew was nothing compared to that. We then got to meet one of their sheep and learn about her wool or lack there of, since she had just been shaved and how sheep produce lanonlin. I didn't know that lanonlin came from sheep, but I personally thanked her for the lanonlin that she produced since that is what saved me those first few days of breastfeeding :) Next, we moved on to the baby chickens - the boys were too scared to hold them, but Tim was the brave one in the bunch. Last but not least, they visited a group of ducks before we hopped on the wagon for the hayride. The hayride took us to a pumpkin patch where the kids got to pick a little pumpkin to take home. At the end of the trip, the kids got some Apple Cider and a cookie. Of course Alex complained that he didn't want the cider - he just wanted water - what? We had a great time!
